On Monday night at the Staples Center with about 7 minutes left in 3rd quarter things looked grim for the Los Angeles Lakers. They were down 20 and the leagues MVP Kobe Bryant had just 5 points. The crowd in Los Angeles was stunned to say the least but not Kobe Bryant. It would appear the MVP had the Spurs right where he wanted them. Because for the next quarter and a half Kobe wouldn't take rest as he ignited the Laker offenses scoring 23 points and sparked the Laker defense which held the San Antonio to just 13 points in final period. Kobe Bryant finished with 27 points (25 in the second half), 5 rebounds and 9 assists and Pau Gasol has 19 and 7 included 2 blocks late in the game as the Lakers rallied to defeated San Antonio 89-85 to take Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
