Nas New Album No Longer Called Nigger

According to Entertainment Weekly a Def Jam representative told EW that Nas’s high anticipated and highly controversial 9th studio album will not be called N*gger.

Nas had this to say about the changing of the album title and inspiration behind the controversial album….

"The people will always know what the real title of this album is and what to call it, It's important to me that this album gets to the fans...It's been a long time coming. I want my fans to know that creatively and lyrically, they can expect the same content and the same messages. It's that important....You got The Congress calling, you got the NAACP calling, you know you got the White House calling, about lil ol me. So of course there is going to be some changes with the title of the album and everything as far as fitting in the stores, but it’s beyond that for me. I need to be heard more than have a word plaster on my album. It’s not about that, I need my music heard. But it’s important for my people, the fans to know that this is the same album regardless of the title. This is the album I intended to make and this is the album you’re gone get. When the governments police kill one ethnic group off, year, after year, after year…we’re in a war, we’re in a genocide. There’s no question about it, there’s no denying it. And people kinda sweep it under the rug, so when I say nigga Im saying NO you aint sweepin that under the rug. And im sorry I gotta say this but its still happening and im sorry none of my elders can come out here and make this shit stop. Hit hop music is the voice it gets everywhere, if we gotta take this shit to another level then that’s what we gotta do….Is this publicity? you fuckin right, this is publicity for a fucking cause….but when you talking about what’s happening to my people, Ima take the word and turn into something positive for myself but Ima make it hell for you because you made it hell for me. "

Man, that track is hot! No matter what they call this album, it's going to be off the chain if Nas is spitting like this. They should stop T-Pain from naming his next album anything. It just goes to show that the people who give us the hip-hop that we listen to don't understand it, and mos def don't give a flying 747 fuck about it. Keep doing your thing Nasir.
